COVID-19: COVID-19 cases in India cross 35,000, death toll at 1,147.State-wise.

  • Total number of coronavirus cases in India has climbed to 35,043 today, according to ministry of health.
  • India crossed the fierce milestone of 35,000 coronavirus cases as the states registered another record hike in Covid-19's patients.


WHY ARE THE CASES INCREASING IN MAHARASHTRA?


Maharashtra remains to be leading state in the number of Covid-19 cases with 8,590 reported till April 4 including a jump of 47 cases in mere 12 hours. Now the worst hit state after recording the highest single-day spike yesterday. The total number of cases in the state surged to 8,500,the state also reported 27 more deaths due to the highly contagious virus, taking the overall toll to 369. The highest number of cases were reported from Mumbai with more than 8,500 positive Covid-19 patients.However, 94 patients were discharged today after making full recovery from the infections, bringing the total number of cured patients in the state to 1,282, the official added.

Out of these, Mumbai reported 395 new Covid-19 cases today, taking the tally to 5,589. With 15 more fatalities, death toll rose to 219 in the city.

Beside this, according to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), 13 new cases of Covid-19 were reported in Dharavi, and Asia's largest slum of Mumbai, today, taking the total number of cases to 288 including 14 deaths in that area.




With the fresh numbers, Maharashtra continues to the worst hit state in the country since the outbreak. Meantime, the total number of positive Covid-19 cases in the country increased to 28,380 today, according to Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The death toll due to the highly contagious disease has reached 886 since the outbreak as 60 deaths got reported since yesterday, it added.
